Svalinn validates climate targets with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)

Svalinn Cap Systems has reached a key milestone in its environmental strategy: the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has officially approved its greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets, validated through the dedicated SME route.

The official commitments approved by the SBTi are as follows (base year 2023):

  • Scope 1: Maintain zero direct emissions through 2032.
  • Scope 2: Reduce absolute energy-related indirect emissions by 37.8% by 2032.
  • Scope 3: Measure and progressively reduce emissions across the value chain.

To achieve these targets, the company is collaborating closely with its value chain partners to deploy key operational measures: accelerating the transition to bio-based polyethylene (PE) - which reduces lifecycle emissions by up to 45% per cap - decarbonizing the energy mix, optimizing product eco-design, and streamlining logistics.

This SBTi validation confirms that Svalinn Cap Systems' strategy aligns with current climate science while continuing to deliver the functionality and quality required for liquid carton packaging caps.
